Canon 40D - A New Family Member

DSLRs are great companion if you put your grip on them quiet often, they feel like they’re family member too and that's how I treat my camera.

It’s like another baby in the family, not just that they’re expensive but the photos they captured are incredible. Sometimes, on travels, it took more than a thousand stunning shots. On events, I’m a trigger-happy photographer. I can consume all my CF cards and sometimes still lacking for some more…

I got my 40D three months ago and I’m happy that I sold my 350D and bought it as a replacement. I would have like to keep it as a collection but with my budget, I find it impractical to do so not unless you have extra cash which I don’t have right now...

What I like about it is the 3 inches LCD aside from the many features that has inside the camera itself.

BIG - Growing Up at 32

Another movie that I've seen at my favorite cinema when I was a boy is Tom Hanks “BIG”. This movie was in my head for weeks and whenever I go to sleep, I dreamt that when I woke up, I'll be this 30-year old guy which my mom would not notice sleeping in my bed and she’ll throw me out as if I'm a burglar.

Today, I feel BIG because I just got promoted to senior position with much bigger responsibilities and the tough thing about it is I feel sad for my colleagues who're not chosen. But the toughest thing that creep my mind is that I don’t want to grow up yet. I feel like I’m still a happy-go-lucky kid.

But I got a family now and because I want them to have the comfort of a good life, I have to grow up fast…

You can never be certain of your future but you can always do something today. To help you prepare for it, you’ve got to take bits of improvement whenever it’s available. And whatever decisions you’ll make, it is because you dream big and you want something more than usual.

Complacency more often plays the role of our “Failure to Launch”, as the romantic movie suggests. We feel satisfied with what we have or what we are right now but the world isn’t.

The day you stop believing in your career advancement is the day you let go of your opportunity to grow as an individual, a family person and as a professional…

Pink Tea Cup NY

Crispilicious! That's all I can say with this resto. We went there for lunch with Kuya Andy and Ate Marivic and it’s a good thing coz a couple just left and we got their table. A lot of pictures of familiar faces are hanging on the wall and my cousins began to tell me about those people who’ve been to PTC to eat… Whoopi Goldberg, Oprah Winfrey, and others… and this sweet and lovely couple, of course...

Kuya loves the chicken so I said I’ll try it but I asked first if it’s too much for my stomach to intake coz I know how big the servings are, usually bigger than what we have here… So my first taste of PTC is a fried chicken with apple fritters. Actually, I don’t know what fritters are so the waiter ask me twice “so what you’ll have, corn or apple?” Good thing Ate suggested me to try the apple and believe me, I ate it all…

I almost forgot that I have my cam with me and I've already taken a bite as evident in the photo...I think I've eaten one of the most delicious chicken in the world... Oh, I love the chicken as well as the fritters so the next time we visit our cousins, I'll ask if we can go back to this place and I know now where to take my wife and Bela for something to eat when we plan to stroll the city... hopefully, soon...

it's at 42nd Grove Street, West Village, The Pink Tea Cup... If ever you got a chance, try this place...

John Elway - So Good For So Long

My first love for American Football started in 1987 when I was in 4th Grade. My elder brother Jason, who was in high school then, would go home only during weekends who loves to watch sports on TV while he's having a good massage from our dad.

Being an 11 year old kid, I rather watch cartoons which we would fight for the television tuner. My brother, being an athletic teenager, always brought home MVP medals from different sports he joined in his school. He became my idol that whatever he watches, I see to it that I understand what he’s watching, how to score, the name of the plays and the players. That I know which team he cheered for and one great thing I learned from him is that he loves all sports events. And often times, during championships, he support the underdogs except for local pro-basketball (PBA), he and the whole family is a die-hard Jaworski fan who wore jersey 7 for Ginebra San Miguel.

My brother watches the National Football League (NFL) so I started also to watch the games even when he's not around. What caught my attention during his visits was the NFL Denver Broncos Quarterback, John Elway who also wore jersey number 7. Being a novice fan of NFL, I didn’t realized that this guy will be my idol also but not until my senior year in college which he won his first Super Bowl. And repeated the feat the following year and ended his career on top with two rings and an MVP award.

In 2005, I bought his McFarlane’s 12’ figure. For me, he’s one of the greatest QB I’ve seen because I’ve watch him in his "The Drive" season when I was a kid and seen him at the end of his career a decade later.

I can never be happier when I bought an SI 2004 Hall of Fame edition from a local shop entitled: “A Tribute to John Elway, So Good for So Long” which is very similar to my McFarlane collectible.
