There can never be another billiard duo like Efren Bata Reyes and Django Bustamante. It's like watching Batman and Robin on screen. It's a very rare moment that the world can actually see two of the greatest pool players and played together as partners and dances like kids...
Last night, after watching them on TV for the World Cup of Pool championship against team Germany (Souquet & Hohmann), it brought me back memories of their first world cup title in 2006 against the Americans (Strickland & Morris). Though this time is a bit different as compared to their previous win when they captured it via 13-5 margin, and now by a come-from-behind win of 11-9. It was a very colorful night with shifting lucks and wasted chances which are all over the table.
Sad to say, I’ve lost my original Tempo newspaper of their first cup but was able to secure a copy with Bata’s signature. So this time, even at past midnight, I went out to 7-eleven to buy the same newspaper to keep my tradition of their feat and hopefully few more titles.
Thanks to our greatest cue masters Bata and Django! We are so proud of you! Mabuhay po kayo!
